{"id":134,"date":"2010-08-22T18:23:44","date_gmt":"2010-08-23T02:23:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/?p=134"},"modified":"2010-08-22T18:24:28","modified_gmt":"2010-08-23T02:24:28","slug":"daycation-to-the-bay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/archives\/134","title":{"rendered":"Daycation to the Bay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Copy-IMG_6801.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-135\" title=\"Copy IMG_6801\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Copy-IMG_6801-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Copy-IMG_6801-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/Copy-IMG_6801-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On August 21, 2010, we decided to go on a daycation and head east towards San Francisco.\u00a0 Our love for trees lead us to Muir Woods.<\/p>\n<p>In 1908, Muir Woods was designated the 10th National Monument for the US.\u00a0\u00a0 This marked the first time in history that a private individual, William and Elizabeth Kent, donated land to the federal government to create a National Monument.\u00a0\u00a0 William Kent requested that the monument be named after John Muir, a noted conservationist.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the area are many trails that meander throughout the monument.\u00a0\u00a0 We decided to walk the loop along Redwood Creek, which takes you on a 2 mile trip through the Cathedral and Bohemian Groves.\u00a0\u00a0 Within the groves, we marveled at the beauty of the redwoods.\u00a0 Their shear size simply takes your breathe away.\u00a0 The 2 mile walk was perfect for kids and even the mature kids of all sizes!\u00a0 We even saw parents with strollers!!\u00a0 Muir Woods was definitely worth the $5\/person entrance fee&#8230;we highly recommend a visit!!\u00a0 We rate this a 5 out of 5!<\/p>\n<p>After spending a few hours at Muir Woods (this included the 1 mile trek back to our car because the parking lots were full), we headed down Highway 1 to Muir Beach.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/IMG_6830.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-136\" title=\"IMG_6830\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/IMG_6830-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/IMG_6830-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.jenn-and-jeff.com\/home\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/IMG_6830-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Muir Beach is a small beach about 1,000 feet wide.\u00a0 This beach is perfect for a family campfire on the beach because there are ready-made grills throughout the small beach.\u00a0 There&#8217;s also an area for DOGS!!\u00a0 We found a log that became our bench, where we enjoyed our picnic lunch from home.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a shame to think there are people who have never placed their toes in the sand on a beach looking out to the ocean!\u00a0 We sat in quiet awe as we chomped on sub sandwiches and chips (of course).\u00a0\u00a0 After ten years of being together, we still enjoy exploring the world and enjoying the quiet, simple moments in life.\u00a0 What a wonderful daycation!!\u00a0 Check out our album for more pics from our daycation!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On August 21, 2010, we decided to go on a daycation and head east towards San Francisco.\u00a0 Our love for trees lead us to Muir Woods.
